We Were Never The Problem

Remind the world and yourself that We Were Never The Problem. It’s a message that I think needs to be said because when we stand for equality or against injustice against us we are demonized. The narrative is always formulated to paint us as the bad guy. We didn’t create these issues. We Were Never The Problem. The origin and responsibility is not on us. The root of the problem needs to be corrected. There’s no hate in this message – just setting the record straight.

Get the new shirt in the online shop and remind the world.

The shirt face reads:
“We Were Never The Problem

Abduction • Slavery • Rape • Segregation • Murder • Jim Crow • Lynching • Cross Burning • Dred Scott Decision • Plessy V. Ferguson • Scottsboro Boys • 16Th Street Baptist Church Bombing • Mass Incarceration • Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment • Tulsa Race Riot • Bloody Sunday • Rosewood Massacre • Seneca Village • Mississippi Burning Murders • Voter Intimidation • Black Codes • Sundown Towns • Blockbusting • Racial Steering • Redlining • Separate But Equal • Anti-Miscegenation Laws • Police Brutality • Stop And Frisk • One Drop Rule • Sharecropping • Discrimination • Racism • Bigotry • Xenophobia • Social Exclusion • Assassinations • School To Prison Pipeline • War On Drugs • Broken Windows Policing • Sentencing Disparity • Racial Profiling • Implicit Bias • Racial Stereotyping • Income Inequality • Rockefeller Drug Laws • White Supremecy • The KKK”

We didn’t cause any of those things, they were perpetrated against us. Don’t allow the narrative of us being the aggressive troublemaking thugs stand unchecked.

Spread the message.

Tokyo streets with a passionate rapper

I originally met Tomie at one of my shows in Japan. I linked up with him again on another trip to Osaka. The day after another performance in Tokyo, we linked up again. He had just arrived after an eight hour bus ride with a portable speaker and microphone intent on rhyming on the streets of Shibuya.

Check us both out

Timid says those three not so little words; “i love you”

Timid - i love you

From LL Cool J rapping “I Need Love” to Method Man telling Mary J. Blige “You’re All I Need” to Common displaying his feelings via word cards on “Come Close”, lyrically eloquent professions of love have attempted to describe the depth of that feeling to the muse that inspired them. Timid’s new release is simply titled with the most wanted to hear phrase in any language; “i love you”. The lyrics vocalize the feeling one has when they are in love and the title is stylized in lowercase to represent a simplistic innocence of that love.

“i love you” is produced by Taz of Onmugen and is available now on Bandcamp (https://timid.bandcamp.com/track/i-love-you) with iTunes and other digital outlets coming soon plus a crowd sourced music video in the works.

Lyric Excerpt
Timid
You’re that
perfect verse over a tight drum and a snare
like Dre said to Syd…you’re my air
happiness is ever fleeting but with you I dare
never sleeping on our life I handle with special care
we can be that pair that others are sick of
when they try to keep up with us they give up
we are that harmony to that beat called love
in public in the street we might cut a rug

Call to action against hate violence

Timidhttps://instagram.com/p/BM1hSLHgHrA/

I was on the radio talking about the election and where we go from here. Shout out to The Random Hour radio show in Fairfax, Virginia for having me on as a guest.
I made a public call to action for all politicians, elected officials, and community leaders to denounce the hateful assaults and attacks that have been happening in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s win and to let people know, in no uncertain terms, that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. If the people perpetrating this type of harassment and violence know there will be consequences, perhaps we can mitigate some of these incidents going forward.

I was informed that since the show’s airing, local politicians have been making public statements condemning what’s been happening. Whether I had anything to do with it or not, it’s still good to know it’s being done. Call your elected officials and community and tell them to do the same.

Donald Trump aka Toupe Fiasco – Stupidstar

Donald Trump’s emcee alter ego aka Toupe Fiasco is back with his new single “Stupidstar”

He stepped away from the mic for a while to do some really really terrific things but with the presidential campaign in full gear he thought it was time to do the something even more terrific. Rhyme.

ToupeFiasco_DonaldTrump-StupidstarDownload both Toupe Fiasco hits for the price of one. This is a terrific deal. I mean it’s really really great.

The Fam – Family Business: A Look Back (Episode 6) – Mother Said Son

The Fam – Family Business: A Look Back (Episode 6) – Mother Said Son

I this episode we talk about the wordplay in the lyrics and the production of “Mother Said Son”

Timid and Pizon (Jay Carter and Mike Scala) take a look six years back to 2009. The two emcees along with a third, EJ, released the album, Family Business, under the group name The Fam. Producers on the album included Mr. Porter (aka Kon Artis of D12), Kno of CunninLynguists, Domingo, Timid, and Gary Botello.

The album spawned one music video for “Inferno” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp68HgAQ6n0

Family Business was the first album release from this diverse collective of solo artists and was preceded by the Family Affair mixtape that was hosted by the fans who called into The Fam’s voicemail box.

Family Business is Available on:

About The Fam
With three different backgrounds resulting in three unique mindsets, the three members of The Fam offer a fresh take on Hip Hop. Pizon, a native of Queens, has been on the scene all decade, recently signing with Rawkus Records. His rhymes are a product of the harsh realities of his troubled life. Timid, having lived on all four coasts and calling Hawaii home, stakes his claim wherever Hip Hop may manifest worldwide. He brings a global perspective to the table. EJ, a representative of Houston, effortlessly combines East Coast lyricism with Dirty South flavor.
