Timid - Real name Jaylon Carter has been actively dealing in the music world since 1989. At that time he was in a local dance group in Honolulu, Hawaii. From dancer to DJ, Jaylon began to dj with a small mobile disco that one of his former dance group partners was dj'ing for. The mobile disco traversed the island doing events such as house and graduation parties, weddings, birthday's, and clubs. At the same time he was also working with one of the largest mobile disco's on the island participating in the same type events as well as large island wide dance parties that usual brought in crowds in the upper hundreds to a thousand and showcased performances by local celebrities in the dance scene.
The next step from dj to music production was taken when Jay's roommate's (former dj partner) sister brought over a new employee from her job to meet with him. She felt the two would click.' E The Rap Specialist' (now simply known as Solo) was an mc from Virginia who had recently moved to Hawaii. Solo let Jay hear his tracks and lyrical skills and from that time on have been tight like brothers. Jay used his connections in the music scene there to find a good reasonably priced studio to record a three song demo. That was 1994. The two later started the company Third Visional Entertainment. Circumstance has put Jay and Solo on opposite ends of the country and now countries with Solo residing in Tokyo, Japan and rippin' heads by way of Vagabond Entertainment.
Jay began work on his own music after ending up in Florida. A writing utensil and black pad marked "Skills" produced some ill lyrical acrobatics and was the tablet in which he wrote the deep joint "My Soul" that teaches on aspects of creation. It was from that song being heard on the phone by MegaAce Multimedia CEO and producer DJ Ace that Jay was hired to record interludes on a 10 cd music set called "Drive By Bass" by Blast Media out of Canada.
Not long after, Jay met another mc that hailed from the Bahamas by way of Ft. Lauderdale; Fayce. When they got together the illness started to flow and culminated in Fayce's self titled EP cd ("F.A.Y.C.E.") release being distributed by MP3.com and local records shops. In an effort to promote the cd, Jay began participating in online hip hop communities, discussions and rap contests (text and audio). It was out of the need for a user name when joining these communities that Timid arose.
Throughout that time, Jay kept building his writing skills. He always was a talented writer in papers, stories, and poetry and he fed off that ability to enhance his rhymes. The resulting creations keep dazzling heads with intelligent lyrics, diverse styles of writing and delivery, and all around hot ish!!!..with stage stops from Tokyo, Japan to Miami, Florid.! Ever the busy entrepeneur, Jay has divided his time between designing websites for some well known dj's (DJ Demp and DJ Kool Ant) up and coming models/actresses (Kini Carter and Ty Johnston) as well as businesses, practicing/teaching martial arts (Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Wing Chun) , and tracking the sales of his non hip hop, instrumental "Chi Kung Standing Meditations" cd that is in use by a number of practictioners around the world.
